Who are Motability

Motability is a national charity, set up on the initiative of the Government in 1977, to assist individuals and families with disabilities with their mobility needs. They direct and oversee the Motability Scheme which enables people to obtain a car simply by using their government-funded mobility allowances.

Motability Operations is a not-for-profit company that runs the Motability Car Scheme. The largest fleet operator in the UK and the biggest supplier of used cars to the trade, Motability are owned by the major banks: Barclays Bank plc, Lloyds Group plc, HSBC Bank plc and Royal Bank of Scotland plc.

As operators of the Motability schemes, activities are regulated and overseen by the charity Motability. Annual turnover is over £2.2 billion and with assets worth £3.7 billion. All surpluses are reinvested in the business for the benefit of their customers.

Motability sell over 145,000 used cars a year. The number of cars purchased each year accounts for no less than six per cent of all the new cars sold in the UK. Since 1978, they have supplied customers with over two million cars.

The cars we offer are NOT available on the Motability Scheme.

The cars Brookland Cars offer have not been modified in any way.
 

What is a Motabilty Direct car

Motability Direct cars are Motability’s best end of contract cars. These are cars that have been well cared for, have well kept interiors free from pet or smoke smells. When a Motability car is returned it is inspected to see how the customer has looked after it. Well cared for cars are offered to Brookland Cars via Motability’s website. Well cared for cars are known as Direct Cars. We only supply direct cars. Cars that are below standard are sent to auction which we DO NOT buy from.

How do you source your cars. How many cars are available.

We have direct access to Motability's website where we can view the cars offered to us. Typically Motability have over 1500 cars for sale with a further 500 cars add each day. All one owner. All Main dealer serviced. All low mileage.

Have the cars been modified for disabled people

The cars we supply have not been modified or ever had modifications.

Can anyone buy a Ex Motability car

Yes. Our cars are available to all.

Are Motability Direct cars regularly serviced

All cars are main dealer serviced at the recommend intervals. Each car has a service printout listing previous servicing, any addition worked carried out and comes with a service book.

What is the typical mileage of a Motability car

The typical mileage of a three year old Motability car is 22,000 miles. Mileages are available from as little as 8,000 miles. 

Why do the prices vary depending on colour

Motability charge us less for colours such as red and green than the more popular colours such as silver, grey and black. The more popular colours can be between £200 - £400 more.

Brookland Cars is a long established, family run business. The owner, Alan Wileman, personally deals with most sales enquires and is dedicated to offering a top quality, professional service. Brookland Cars only supply and sell Grade A cars bought directly from Motability. We do not buy the below standard cars that are available at auction. Our cars are well cared for, one owner and main dealer serviced. 

Our experienced sales staff have a thorough working knowledge of the cars we supply and their aim is to assist you through the purchasing process. They are not paid on commission basic, but are dedicated to ensuring you buy the right car for your needs.

Are all the cars one owner

Yes all the cars we supply are one private owner.

 

Are all the cars three year old

About 80% of the cars available to us from Motability Direct are three years old. The remaining are between one and two years old.

How long is the MOT

Motability MOT their cars one month before they are due. Mot’s on cars supplied are typically 10-11 months remaining.

How many cars are available

Every day approximately 500 cars come off the Motability scheme. The best cars are offered to us.   

How do i see the cars i can buy

When you visit our showrooms we are able to show you pictures and service history’s of the cars available from Motability Direct on our customer friendly dual screens.

Do you have one in stock i can try

We normally have in stock one of every model we advertise. 

Can i really choose the model and colour i want

Unlike most car dealers your choice is limited by what’s on display here you can choose the model and colour you want. 

How do you guarantee the car will be A1 condition

By having the cars on display we demonstrate the quality we supply. If in the unlikely event you were not happy with condition of the car we show you we will refund your deposit or find you a replacement if you wish.

How long will it take to supply me a car

Supply times are 3-4 weeks depending on availability. This allows time for us to source the car from Motability (normally within 1 -10 days, wait for the car to be delivered to us (7 days) and to prepare to car to our high standards (7 days). 

I need a car this week can you still supply me

For customers that need a car quickly we offer a free loan car until your new car arrives.

What paperwork will i receive

V5 Log book, MOT, Service book and Service Printout.

What warranty comes with the car.

Can I extend my warranty

The 6 Months warranty we include can be extended up to 3 years.

Can you fit accessories

We are able to arrange the fitment of Towbars and parking sensors.

Can i buy an Ex Motability car using my disability allowance. NO SORRY.
